A recent raid on a collection of call centres in India has trickling effects here in Weyburn.

Inspector Rod Stafford with the Weyburn Police Services said since the raid, local police have noticed a difference.

"In the last week or ten days I'm not aware of a single CRA call that we've received," Inst. Stafford told Discover Weyburn last week.

Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) fraud concerns have been flooding local police and RCMP dispatches across the country. Inst. Stafford said, despite the nuisance, it's a good thing.

"I know it's a pain for both the citizens, and a little bit for us, to receive countless complaints of this nature but, by documenting them and getting as much information as we could ...  that all can certainly help in terms of identifying a location or locations where this is happening from," he said.

RCMP reported that since January of 2014, at least 1,900 Canadians have been victims of calls from people claiming to work the CRA.
