Today marks an exciting change to radio in Weyburn and the surrounding area.

The popularity of country music continues to grow, and the genre, growing bigger than ever, reigns supreme. Today, Golden West in Weyburn is excited to unveil the new Country 106.7.

“We’re still going to be everything we always have been, local news, weather, sports, information and great music,” said Dara Currie, the program director and the morning host on Country 106.7.

“I think this is a terrific time for the community of Weyburn and all of southeast Saskatchewan,” added Brett Adnum, the chief operating officer of Golden West. “When you look around at all the local, emerging artists and acts that perform at the fairs and the festivals in the area, country is always involved and its popularity continues to soar.”

“All of the research that we’ve done over the past six months in the community of Weyburn and around in southeast Saskatchewan told us that, very loudly and clearly, that we have a gap in our offering of music selection on the FM dial, and so with that, we’re super excited today to launch Country 106.7 in Weyburn,” said Cameron Birnie, the station manager in Weyburn, and the Golden West regional manager.

The change on the FM dial isn’t the only one being made this morning.

AM1190 will now feature the best hits of the 70s, 80s, and 90s, as it joins the Golden West AM Network.

What won't change is Golden West's commitment to the community and remaining the leader in local news, local sports, community events and local voices, on the exciting new Country 106.7 and AM1190.
