AM1190 has been a leading voice in local news, sports and weather for the entire region for decades. Starting this morning, the legacy of AM1190 will continue to grow, but with a slightly different sound. With Saskatchewan radio legend Rob Carnie taking the helm in the mornings, you will continue to hear the local voices that are so important to you, and you will be able to dance and sing along to the greatest hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s as AM1190 offers you Saskatchewan’s Best Music.

“AM1190 will be part of our Golden West AM radio network,” explained Cameron Birnie, the station manager in Weyburn, and the Golden West regional manager. “Golden West has AM stations in Weyburn, along with Estevan, Moose Jaw, Sift Current, Kindersley, Rosetown and Shaunavon, and we’re excited to be playing the greatest hits of all time on AM1190.”

“AM1190 is evolving to match our listeners with the music they grew up with, all while staying committed to our core – local news and information unique to Weyburn and southeast Saskatchewan,” added Brett Adnum, the chief operating officer of Golden West.

The changes on the radio are also making it easier for us to be able to tell the stories of our community.

“With these changes, we’ve been able to add an additional reporter position to deepen our coverage,” Adnum continued. “With the blend of local information and the music that reflects the community, we couldn’t be more excited to see the positive impact this will have on southeast Saskatchewan.”

The changes on AM1190 aren't the only ones happening on Weyburn radio.

Country 106.7 officially launched this morning as well.
