The union for City of Weyburn employees is currently working with the City on a resolution for out of pocket test costs after November 15th for those who aren't fully or can not be vaccinated against COVID-19.

"The CUPE Local 90 welcomes efforts to ensure safer workplaces and increased vaccination rate, this includes increasing vaccination accessibility for workers, accommodating workers who are not yet fully vaccinated, and the small number of those who cannot be, are concerned with the policy developed by the City of Weyburn," explained union president Sherri Blackburn, noting tests are costly and hard to find in our area.

"Given it's limited options available in our geographic region for COVID testing, we've asked that the City consider continued to provide tests to all employees free of charge, because their policy had stated that after November 15th, employees would no longer be tested by the City of Weyburn, and they would have to provide their own testing."

She said they're trying to work with the City to make sure that the employees could get the testing free of charge longer than November 15th.

"There's not much more that we can do with ask that they provide that indefinitely free of charge," she noted. "There's the process by which we approach the City, usually meetings or by grievances and discuss that with them. Anything related to the union or the City is always has a procedure that needs to be followed."
