Weyburn has numerous incentive programs aimed to encourage residents to complete certain projects. The Weyburn Builds 'In-Fill' Grant Program was discussed during City Council.

The program is for the repair or improvement of exteriors of ageing houses in certain areas of the City.

"I believe it's based on a percentage of your building permit, so you have to apply for a building permit to get this, and it has to be over a certain dollar value and then you get a certain percentage back from the City," says Mel van Betuw, Weyburn City Councillor. "I really encourage all residents to take a look at this program, it's found money."

New home construction, home relocations, additions to existing homes and major exterior renovations are all eligible to apply. Homeowners can apply with help from the City and their contractors who completed the work. After the home and work are assessed a percentage comes back to the owner.

"I think that's one of the things that we are again striving to do here at council and through our communications office that we make sure that people are fully aware of the type of programs that the City is running and how to get a hold of the information and to make sure that it is readily available, we want to progress our City forward," says Mayor Marcel Roy.

The grant encourages the beautification of the City as well as the use of local materials and labour. For further information visit Weyburn's website.
