When Brimacombe Drive in Weyburn shutdown Saturday morning, it was for a very good cause. The 12th annual Brimacombe Drive Street Hockey tournament was held, with the entire event a fundraiser for the community.

This year, the money raised through the pre-game party Friday, the tournament itself, and then the cabaret Saturday night was going to the Fellinger family and the Royal Canadian Legion in Weyburn.

Wyatt Fellinger has a neurological disorder which has rapidly progressed over the past year. Living on Brimacombe Drive, the organizers thought it would be only fitting to help the family out, covering some of the expenses they have been incurring.

Preston Shupe is one of the organizers of the event. He said they were overwhelmed with the response this year, and the amount raised.

“We donated $1,500 to the Weyburn Canadian Legion, and the remaining $9,000 to the Fellinger family,” Shupe explained as to how over $10,000 was split between the two causes. The money was presented to the Fellingers Monday evening at their home on Brimacombe.
