Patrons and supporters of the Weyburn Salvation Army were lined up on the sidewalk for opening day today at the new location for their Thrift Store and Family Services offices.

"There was a lineup outside our door, that just goes to show that Weyburn is super supportive of us and we're just glad that we have that," said Community Ministries Coordinator Jennifer Lorinczy.

"We're glad everybody came out to see us and check us out," she expressed. "Right now there are still a few things that need to get set up or unpacked. We're looking forward to getting used to our space, to growing our space, to just being in here. I think it's just going to serve the community so much better than what we had before, and that's the goal is to keep our customers and our clients and everybody in the community happy and we want to support them, and I think with this new building, we're on the right track to do that."

Those in attendance could enjoy baked treats and coffee while perusing the new store, including Salvation Army Christmas Kettle organizer Helen Orsted. She noted she prefers shopping second-hand whenever possible, mainly because she can shop while also supporting a worthwhile cause.

Lorinczy noted they began accepting applications for Christmas hampers this afternoon.

"If you're coming to the Thrift Store, come in the front door on the corner of Fourth and Railway," she explained. "If you're coming to see me in Family Services, you can use the back alley entrance, it's completely separate from the Thrift Store, there's a nice waiting area, there's my office, there's Food Bank, there's everything back there and we're just ready to help you."

The Salvation Army Weyburn is now located on the corner of Railway Avenue and Fourth Street.
