With the clouds visible for much of the afternoon, many were wondering when the storm would reach Weyburn. It finally did just before 7:00 p.m. Wednesday night, and it dropped a lot of rain, in a very short time.

Nearly 25 millimetres of rain fell on the Opportunity City in around ten minutes. The deluge proved to be too much in some parts of the city, as localized flooding was seen in many areas. City crews were out to help clear away drains to allow for the water to reach the storm sewer system.

With the 24.8 millimetres falling yesterday, Weyburn has now received 80.1 millimetres of precipitation this month, nearly half of what was received in all of 2017. It was also just shy of setting a record for the most rainfall for the day, which was 25.7 millimetres back in 2013.

More rain is expected Thursday and Friday. If Weyburn received more than four millimetres in the next 24 hours, it will make this month the wettest Weyburn has seen in nearly three years.
