The Weyburn Humane Society's sixth annual Raise The Woof dinner event was held over the weekend at Mckenna Hall. The evening raised roughly $9,000 that the Humane Society is planning to put toward a new building.

Vice-President CindyAnn Boehm thanked everyone for attending and said a new space for their shelter is long overdue.

"We've been in the same little building over by the Fire Hall for many years," Boehm explained. "Because of the kitty litter and the special stuff we have to use, and the pipes being so small, we've had a lot of issues with our plumbing. We've outgrown the place."

They've got some funds saved up and have already begun looking for property to buy. The next step after that will be to begin construction on their new building.

The night was complete with a dinner, raffle items and a comedy show for everyone in attendance. The trio provided plenty of laughs and sore cheeks with their routine.

"The entertainment was totally hilarious. It was a clean show this year, so they had to work around a few of their jokes I'm sure they usually have. But, it was hilarious. I had tears running down my face several times," Boehm said.

There are plenty of new puppies, kittens, cats and dogs to adopt at the Humane Society.
