Two people ended up in custody last Friday after a traffic stop in Weyburn.

An officer on patrol located a truck that had been reported stolen in Cochrane, Alberta. Then, further investigation uncovered more, according to Deputy Police Chief Brent VanDeSype.

“There was other stolen property in the vehicle, including two stolen license plates,” the deputy chief explained. “One way that they try to elude the police is to pick up other plates, and they’ll swap out the plates on the vehicle periodically.”

Two people – a man and a woman – are facing several charges. Both are charged with multiple counts of possession of property obtained by crime and possession of break-in tools. The man was also charged with breach of a probation order.

Both were remanded into custody at the time of their arrest.
