With the end of the summer upon us, the Weyburn Tourism “Be A Tourist In Your Own Hometown” campaign wrapped up on the weekend. The contest asked residents of Weyburn to take photos of themselves around the city, enjoying the various sights, scenes and activities in Weyburn, and post it to social media with the hashtag #ThisIsWeyburn and #WeyburnTourism.

Twila Walkeden, executive director of Weyburn Regional Economic Development, which oversees Weyburn Tourism, announced the winner as Ronila Poquiz.

‘“Ronila really pulled out all the stops,” Walkeden said of the winner, who finished the summer with the most uses of the hashtags. “She visited the Heritage Village, the museum, Freshii, Swaad, the Tommy Douglas statue, and Pioneer Women, and the list goes on.”

Walkeden pointed out the fact Ronila Poquizposted images from restaurants underscored the fact restaurants are a valuable part of the tourism industry in the community.

As to what Poquiz received for her adventures in Weyburn this summer?

She wins an evening out in Weyburn. It includes two tickets to see Tenille Arts in April of next year, as well as supper at Boston Pizza.
