Today marks the 4th Annual Butter Tart Bake for Cystic Fibrosis which sees yummy treats for a good cause.

"My wife and I started this fundraiser 3 years ago now, and we got the idea from another family up in Saskatoon that has done a butter tart fundraiser raising money cystic fibrosis so we jumped on the idea and decided to try it out in Weyburn and it was met with great success," says Mike Weger, Founder of the Event.

The Weger's have sold over 4500 dozen butter tarts in three years, time constraints and problems with the supplier means they will only have approximately 760 butter tarts this year. In the past, the event was averaging around 1500 dozen sold per year.

"Our daughter Teresa was diagnosed when she was two and a half and she's now twelve, and so we've been at this for ten years now," says Weger. "From the day she was diagnosed, my wife and I made it our commitment to do everything we could to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis."

The butter tarts are sold 25 for $25.00 out of McKenna Hall, today, from around 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. You can also pre-order the tarts by contacting Cara Weger at (306)861-6713 or by messaging the Facebook group "Big Butter Tart Bake for Cystic Fibrosis."
