The Weyburn Scouts Association held a Scouts bowling tournament fundraiser at Weyburn's Bowling Alley on Sunday with a 50/50 draw included. They are sending five scouts and leaders to the World Jamboree in 2019.

More on the Jamboree can be found here.

"We had a Bingo type bowling and we had four teams entered. The Gutters, the Go-Greens the Flannels and The Pig Tails. Everyone had a blast, it was a lot of fun. The Go-Greens ended up winning after a strike shootout" said Allen Klassen, Weyburn Scout Leader.

"We had door prizes donated to us from Canadian Tire, Napa, Auto Electric, Home Hardware, Weyburn Credit Union, Boston Pizza, Peavey Mart and Pharmasave. Everybody went home with a lot of fun."

The total raised around $725 towards the Jamboree fund.

"We divided the money amongst the five participants wanting to go to the World Jamboree and each participant ended up with $145 towards their goal. Not as prolific as we wanted but hopefully word will get around when we do our next one and well get a full lane of teams."

The plan is to have another Bowling Tournament in May or June.

"I would just like to thank everybody for coming out and supporting us. Those four teams were wonderful, it was a lot of fun. They had dressed up in costumes. they were really in the spirit of it."

Klassen said Ken Latimer from All Secure Storage has offered to donate all new rental fees for the month of March in Weyburn to the Scouts, to go towards the Jamboree fund. He also added they are still doing the battery drive. Anyone who would like to make a donation to send the scouts and leaders to the World Jamboree can contact him directly 306-861-3434 or his wife, Kim on 306-861-5025.

The nearest payment deadline is March 1st this week and they have what they need for this deadline. The next payment of $4000 is needed by June 1st.
