A former teacher for the Weyburn Comprehensive School is making a return to the halls. Colleen Weimer will be back teaching choral at the Comp until at least the end of the semester.

The position was left vacant after newcomer Sarah Labonte resigned earlier this week, citing personal and family reasons. Labonte, her wife and daughter have since moved back to Ontario. Students received a letter from Labonte via email earlier this week explaining her resignation and to wish them luck in the future.

Weimer will now take over on an interim basis until a new choir teacher can step up.

"I'm glad I can help out. It's a hole that needs to be filled for a time and I am familiar with it," the music teacher said. "It's something I, of course, love to do. And with the kids, I'm looking forward to working with them again."

Weimer has been keeping busy in her new found free time. She began directing the Variations Choir earlier this fall and had seen a successful turnout thus far. The number of members has doubled since last year. Weimer is excited to be back working with youngsters.

"I do miss the teenagers for sure. But, there's been other things I have been doing," she explained.

She will begin on Monday and immediately go to work. With only a handful of weeks left in the semester, there is a lot to prepare for. Christmas performances are just around the corner and, of course, testing toward the end of the semester.

Although the students will be sad to see Mrs. Labonte go, they will undoubtedly be all smiles when the beloved Mrs. Weimer's class is back in session.
