The Southeast Midget AAA Twins with a pair of wins Saturday in Yorkton, as they played a doubleheader against the Parkland Expos.

In the first game, the Twins came away with a 9-3 win, using timely hitting, and speed on the base paths. The Expos led the game 3-1 heading into the sixth inning when the Twins opened up the scoring. With bases loaded, the Twins took advantage of speed, wild pitches and passed balls to score seven runs on just one hit, while also taking advantage of two errors by the Expos.

Burke Lyons earned the win in the first game, going 6 ⅓ innings, striking out five, and allowing three earned runs. Alex Kerr closed out the game on the mound.

In the second game, the Twins spread the scoring out through all seven innings and took advantage of a complete game on the mound from Rhett Nikolejsin for the win. The Twins took the lead in the top of the first inning and didn’t look back, as they scored three runs. They would build up a 6-0 lead before Parkland found the scoreboard, but it would be too little too late.

Nikolejsin struck out six over the seven innings, allowing two earned runs. His ERA this season improved to 2.03. Adding to the performance was Luke Niemegeers recording three stolen bases for seven on the season.

The Twins now host the Regina Wolfpack at Lynn Prime Park in Estevan for a double header Sunday.
