Training camp season is starting for midget and junior hockey teams across Canada this week. One of those heading off for camp is Weyburn’s Ethan Ernst, who is travelling to Kelowna for camp with the WHL’s Rockets.

Ernst spent last season with the Notre Dame Midget AAA Hounds, after attending camp in the fall in Kelowna. This year, he is looking to stick around with the WHL club, after heeding their advice since last fall.

“Getting stronger is one for sure, and always getting faster. They play a really high-speed game,” Ernst said when asked what the team suggested he work on as he gets ready for the coming camp.

He doesn’t undervalue his own abilities heading into the camp either, knowing he has the skillset, and now is looking for the chance to show it. He added he is looking forward to meeting the rest of the guys on the team, and is excited and nervous as he heads to Kelowna.
