A keen eye from a member of the Weyburn Police Service on the weekend resulted in a number of charges for two men.

Deputy Police Chief Brent VanDeSype explained that around mid-morning Saturday, the officers noticed a trailer that was being pulled by a vehicle that matched the description of a trailer that had been reported as stolen. The officer initiated the traffic stop, and it turned out to be a lot more than just a stolen trailer.

“I believe there’s about over 20 Criminal Code charges that resulted from that traffic stop,” VanDeSype said. “Not only were they in possession of stolen property, but the two males inside that were charged accordingly were both breaching several of their conditions. They were also in possession of illegal substances as well as illegal possession of a firearm.”

As a result of the stop, the two men were held in custody pending an appearance in court.
