It was a back-and-forth game between the U18 AA John Hulbert Construction Wings and the U18 AA Regina Rangers Wednesday night. By the time the dust had settled on the game, nothing was solved in 65 minutes, and the teams settled for a 6-6 tie.

The high offence game started with the Rangers getting a quick start, with Kayden Reeder scoring just 19 seconds into the first period. It didn’t take too long for the Wings to respond, however, as Silas Stein found the back of the net at the 3:53 mark, assisted by Donavin Mellon.

Regina would respond less than two minutes later when Rylan Numrich would get the puck past Ryan Hicks to make it a 2-1 Regina lead. Then, Ryker Watt scored what would be the first of his three goals on the night with 8:44 left on the clock, assisted by Lane Batters, to send the game to the dressing room knotted 2-2.

Watt would then give Weyburn their first lead of the night 37 seconds into the second period, as he scored an unassisted goal to make it 3-2. Just over a minute later, Trent Benning would make it a 4-2 lead for the Wings. His tally was assisted by Nolan Zelyck and Grier Peterson.

Watt would finish his hat trick out at the 6:15 point of the middle frame, assisted by Cooper Walbaum, to make it a 5-2 lead for Weyburn.

Regina responded with a goal before the end of the second period, as Rily Krongerger scored to cut the Weyburn lead to 5-3.

In the third period, Mellon put the margin back to three goals with a power-play marker just 1:35 into the frame. He was assisted on the goal by Watt, who finished the day with four points.

The Rangers rallied back, scoring three goals in seven minutes to even things up, as Kayden McBeath, Coltun Sivertson and Kronberger all tallied for Regina. This would even things up 6-6, forcing overtime.

Nothing was settled in the extra period, and the teams had to settle with a point each in the standings.

The Wings are now 0-1-0-1 on the season and will look to get in the win column this weekend. They head to Swift Current for a pair of games against the Broncos, with the first one Saturday evening, and the second one Sunday afternoon.
