It may have come out of despair, but author Tracy Friesen's story has a happy ending.

Born and raised in Weyburn, Friesen never intended to write a book, but it came about due to her desire to help others. After separating from her husband, Friesen decided to put her heart on the page and wrote daily inspirational messages on Facebook as a way to sort out her own feelings. After a year, she had her book "Ride the Waves - how to take control of your life one emotion at a time" written.

"I like to tell people I can change the world one smile at a time," says Friesen. "So, that's kind of like what my goal is, in regards to having people read the book or get anything out of it, is just to become more aware of who they are and accept who they are and it's okay that no matter how you are feeling at any moment is perfect and 100 per cent okay."

Volume two of "Ride the Waves" comes out this fall. And more good news..."because of the book and the way I was able to really get connected back in my life, my husband and I were able to start talking again and really get to what matters and we were able to see that we really are on the same page, so we reconciled."

Because of that reconciliation they have added a son to their family - a younger brother for their daughter.

Friesen is also co-authoring a collection of stories called "Unwavering Strength", due to be released this fall, as well, where she talks about overcoming her despair and reconnecting with her husband through the healing power of self expression.
