The Tommy Douglas Performing Arts Centre board and the Crocus 80 Theatre board will be joining forces this year and they are inviting the public to come attend their first amalgamated annual general meeting that is happening later this month.

"Our annual meeting will be coming up on September 24th and at this meeting, we are planning on amalgamating our two boards," told Connie Nightingale, President of the Tommy Douglas Performing Arts Centre board. "After a 19-month hiatus with COVID and everything we have decided that it would be wise to combine all of the strengths of the two boards into one to further offer theatre to our community."

The meeting will be open to everyone in the community and both boards have expressed that they would like to see as many people as possible in attendance to be able to have as many inputs as they can get on how the upcoming year should look for both boards once they have been amalgamated.

"The Tommy Douglas Centre is a historical building here within our community and Crocus 80 is a non-profit organization that provides theatre training and opportunities to our community," Nightingale stated. "We are hoping that people will bring their ideas and some enthusiasm to this meeting. Perhaps some fundraising ideas for the building itself or how to best preserve the history of our building."

Nightingale added that they aren't expecting people to purchase their annual memberships for Crocus 80 at the meeting but said that anyone interested can pay a five dollar fee to be able to audition and/or participate in all of their upcoming productions for the upcoming year.

"We're just hoping to get some voices and participants to come out and be there during the AGM," said Nightingale. "The meeting will be open to the public at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 24th."

Anyone interested in joining the board can put their name forward during the meeting and they can also feel free to send an email to crocus80theatre@gmail.com for more information.

The Tommy Douglas Performing Arts Centre is located at 400 10th Avenue SE in Weyburn.
