Producers hoping to put in a winter wheat crop are running out of time before they shouldn't seed anymore.

Mark Aiken, Conservation Program Specialist with Ducks Unlimited says the weather has shortened producers time for getting winter wheat in the ground.

Aiken says the wet weather earlier this month has crops coming off later than normal.

Aiken says farmers looking to seed winter wheat are tight for time.

Aiken adds the best time to plant winter wheat crops is usually around the middle of September.

Aiken says it is important to make sure you have a strong healthy plant in the fall.
