SaskEnergy has made a proposal to increase natural gas rates for as early as fall of this year.

The proposal has asked for a 2.1% increase, which would take effect in September. Then another 1.2% hike in 2014.

The crown corporation says the increase is to help with the rising costs of surveying and infrastructure growth. The steady growth in our province has ended the 5 year decrease in rates, as the constant demand for new infrastructure continues.

The increase is still pending approval of the Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel and the provincial cabinet.
