RCMP have confirmed 14 deaths in the bus crash that was carrying the SJHL Humboldt Broncos team last night. The team was en route to Nipawin for game five of their SJHL semi-final series when the team bus collided with a semi around 5 p.m.

There were 29 people travelling on the bus, including the driver. The remaining 15 people were taken to hospital, with three having critical injuries.

It has been confirmed that 16-year-old Adam Herold was killed in the accident. The teenager from Montmarte played in the Weyburn Minor Hockey league for three years. He was recently asked to play with the Broncos.

RCMP will be working with their partner agencies to ensure families are notified as soon as possible and the appropriate supports are provided to families and others who are impacted by this extremely tragic incident.

Nipawin RCMP released a statement at 8 a.m. saying they were still on scene at the accident site near the intersection of Highways 35 and 335, just north of Tisdale.
