Facilitating next-level crafts, helping to organize community service projects, inspiring strong female leadership, taking a group of kids camping. If these fit your skillset, then the Rainbow District Girl Guides could probably use your help. More Guide Leaders are needed to work with the local organization's Sparks, Brownies and Guides programs.

"You don't have to have any experience, just a desire to make a difference in the lives of girls, and be there and present with them once a week, for an hour to an hour and a half, plus some camps and sleepovers, that kind of thing," said District Commissioner, Abby Kradovill. "There might be some focus on crafts or community service projects or camping, kind of a wide variety of activities that we do."

She said they're a very inclusive group, welcoming any leaders, whether they have a great deal of experience or no experience at all.

"Lots of people may not have had that opportunity, but they have the interest, and if you think you'd be a good person to be a cheerleader or a mentor to help girls develop different skills and confidence, and these are the memories for these girls that will last forever," she said. "These [girls] are our future leaders."

She said the organization offers a support network for new leaders, along with opportunities for training and travel.

"There are perks to being a Guide Leader that are not just with those girls," said Kradovill. "We love the experience, you love the time with the[the girls], but there's also a whole sisterhood of other Guide Leaders and there's opportunities for training and there's opportunity for travel."

Kradovill said while training for Guide Leaders is provided, the programs are 'girl-led'.

"The girls within your group will set the tone for what areas you want to focus on for the year," she explained. "And we also have leaders in our Pathfinders and Guides, and then we have a few support people, myself, and Kim Klassen and Sam Popescu, that help with the planning side of district things, as a resource for any new leaders."
