Environment Canada has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Southeast Saskatchewan.

A low pressure system approaching from the south will stall over northern North Dakota overnight then gradually move eastward on Tuesday.

Rain and thunderstorms ahead of this low are expected to intensify overnight. The heaviest rainfall potential will be overnight and Tuesday morning, however rain will persist through Tuesday evening, but with lesser amounts. Total rainfalls from this system will likely range from 35 to 75 mm in these regions.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Meanwhile, the rain which came down last week was a welcome relief for farmers in the Southeast, including Dale Paslawski, who farms north of Weyburn.

Paslawski said the moisture came just as most farmers were finishing up seeding. "The rain was very, very, very welcome," said Paslawski. "Even for the cattle producers, they were short on moisture in a lot of their hayfields, and grasslands, and this really going to help out the cattle guys, too, because they were getting to the point that they needed rain real quick." Paslawski added.
