The deadline for nominations for the provincial election on October 26th passed on Saturday. In all, there are 236 candidates across the 61 constituencies in the province. Here in the southeast, there are 21 candidates for the five ridings.

The Saskatchewan Party, NDP and Green Party all have a candidate in each riding. The Buffalo Party has three candidates in the five ridings, while the PC Party of Saskatchewan has three candidates as well. The Liberal Party has no candidates running in any of the local ridings, and there are no independents in the election.

In Weyburn-Big Muddy, four of the six political parties have a candidate. The candidate for the Saskatchewan Party is the incumbent, Dustin Duncan. He has three challengers for the seat. The NDP candidate is Regan Lanning, while Collin Keith represents the Buffalo Party on the ballot. The candidate for the Green Party is Shane Caellaigh.

To the north and northwest of Weyburn is the riding of Indian Head-Milestone. There, the incumbent is the Saskatchewan Party’s Don McMorris. He is facing three challengers as well, with Jared Clarke representing the NDP, the PC Party candidate is Elvin Mandziak, and the Green Party candidate is Billy Patterson.

In the riding of Moosomin, Steven Bonk of the Saskatchewan Party is the incumbent. He is being challenged by Ken Burton of the NDP, Frank Serfas of the PC Party and Marjorie Graham, who is running under the Green Party banner.

There are four names on the ballot for the riding of Cannington. The seat was previously held by Dan D’Autremont, who has retired from his seat. The Saskatchewan Party candidate is Darryl Harrison, while the NDP is being represented by Dianne Twietmeyer. The Buffalo Party candidate in the riding is Wes Smith and Jaina Forrest is the candidate for the Green Party.

There are five candidates on the ticket for the riding of Estevan. The incumbent is Lori Carr, who is the Saskatchewan Party candidate. The candidate for the NDP is Seth Lundrum, while Linda Sopp represents the PC Party. Phil Zajac is the candidate for the Buffalo Party and the Green Party is represented by Scott Meyers.

The provincial election will be held on October 26th.
