Don't be afraid to share your story and be proud of what you are doing.

Reflecting back on her career accomplishments, Rachel Mielke passed on words of advice to the Weyburn community at the 2017 Quota Women of the Year Awards held at McKenna Hall Tuesday afternoon.

Mielke, founder and CEO of Hillberg and Berk jewelry, was the guest speaker at this year's awards ceremony which honoured four Weyburn women for their success stories.

"I think it's incredibly important to take time to not only celebrate but to recognize the incredible work and efforts that women in the community are doing," said Mielke about the annual awards.

"One of the most important things that we have to realize as women is supporting other women is how we're going to create more equality in the whole world with women."

During her speech, Mielke shared advice she has learned throughout the growth of her brand and business:

  • There is no difference between "me and you"; know that you can build your own company, brand or success story
  • Surround yourself with a positive and encouraging support system
  • Be diligently optimistic; don't let the difficult times hault your dreams
  • Have goals and a vision to pursue
  • Build an amazing team of employees and partners around you and let them run with your ideas and passions
  • Learn to be OK with only getting to 80 per cent, because business isn't about being perfect 100 per cent of the time
  • Be brave despite the daily demands women face
  • Find your purpose and believe that you can change the world "one sparkle at a time"
