Halloween may still be over a month away but Weyburn residents were treated to some Halloween thrills last night at Soo Theatre.

Ernie Parisien, who co-ordinates an annual Haunted House every year, stopped by for the opening of the movie "It".

"We HAD to stop at the theatre," said Parisien. "It made complete sense to do so since our main staple has always been Pennywise."

Parisien's portrayal of Pennywise is common sight in October, as many flock to the Parisien haunted house but came as an added thrill last night as he greeted movie goers, and Soo Theatre was "absolutely estatic" to have him there.

"Ernie is a local horror and Halloween fan, his whole family is," said Kwamee Georghiades, General Manager of Soo Theatre. "He reached out to us, wondering what the show times were. Myself, being a fan of his family's annual haunted house, I had to talk to him about that. The question of him coming as Pennywise was posed and I 100% agreed. He added a layer of spookiness for our movie lovers and made the night a particular memory that will last a lifetime."

Parisien had taken to Facebook yesterday to announce that the haunted house would not be happening this year. However, this morning Ernie noted that many had come together to volunteer for the haunted house so it's fate for the year is currently undecided.

"The haunted house for me is a memory maker for me and my kids," he said. "It is also the best time of year. It's not actually a holiday but to us it is. I would be happy if they had it twice a year...like get rid of Valentine's day or something like that."

Parisien will be meeting tonight with potentional volunteers to determine whether the haunted house will be a go or not but has said, regardless of what happens this year, it will be open for business Halloween of 2018.
