The Midget AA John Hulbert Construction Wings returned to their winning ways Wednesday night. They doubled up the Regina Capitals 4-2 at Crescent Point Place. With the win, the Wings now sit six points back of Yorkton for first in the South Saskatchewan Midget Hockey League. Weyburn also has three games in hand.

The Wings waited for their first goal, as they opened the scoring late in the first period. Matthew Daunheimer picked up his third of the campaign, as he beat Regina goaltender Blake Diewold. The goal was assisted by Kyle Perras and Braden Birnie.

The Wings would then increase the lead later in the second period. Perras notched his 11th of the season. The unassisted marker came with 2:55 to play in the middle frame.

Birnie then scored his 14th of the year to start the third. The power play goal, assisted by Gavin Doud and Kyler Douglas, came just two minutes into the period. The Capitals would make a game of things, though.

Ethan Edwards scored at the 5:22 mark, making it 3-1. Dillan Zurowski then scored to close the gap to 3-2.

Matthew Dutchak would shut the door for the remainder of the game, going on to make nine more saves in the period to preserve the victory. An empty-netter was added by Birnie with just 18 seconds left on the clock.

The Wings will now prepare for their next game, which will be next Monday. They head up Highway 39 to face the Notre Dame Hounds.
