Originally announced in July, the merger between two medical clinics in Weyburn takes effect today.

The Weyburn Primary Health Care Clinic, which was located in the MNP Building on 3rd Street in downtown Weyburn, has merged with the Weyburn Health Centre. The clinics will be co-located at the Weyburn Health Centre, located at 36 4th Street.

“Merging these teams will allow physicians, nurse practitioners, and other health care professionals to more efficiently provide the best care to patients sooner and as close to home as possible and enhance team-based care in the community,” said Primary Health Care Director Trevor Tessier in a written release.

The merger was done as part of the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s Connected Care Strategy. It is a long-term initiative for the SHA to ensure care is provided as close to home as possible by the right provider at the right time.
