Saskatchewan is leading the country in job growth.

The job numbers are in for the country and our province leads the way with a 1.4 per cent growth rate. Over 8,000 jobs were created in the province in February over January. The national growth rate was up 0.1 per cent, seasonally adjusted, with a total of 15,300 new jobs created last month.

“Leading the nation in month-over-month job growth is a positive indication that the economy is moving in the right direction,” Economy Minister Jeremy Harrison said in a press release. “This along with recent reports on retail sales growth, manufacturing sales growth and wholesale trade growth show the continued strength and resilience of Saskatchewan’s economy.”

Saskatchewan is also enjoying an unemployment rate of 6 per cent, the 3rd lowest in all of Canada. The national rate was at 6.6 per cent.

More people were employed in Saskatchewan in February than ever before with 563,600 working in our province.
