A pair of solo home runs from Francisco Lindor helped guide the Cleveland Indians to a 9-5 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays Thursday night, as the two teams kicked off a four-game set at the Rogers Centre.
Lindor also brought in a tiebreaking run with a single.
On the mound, Sam Gaviglio lasted less than five innings for the Jays.
There was one bright spot for the Jays, though. Rookie Rowdy Tellez had three doubles and drove in a run in just his second game with the team.
The Indians also removing their controversial Chief Wahoo logo for the series opener. They took the caricature of a First Nations man off the sleeve of the jersey and wore hats with a red C on a blue field instead.
The series resumes tonight in Toronto. Catch all the action on Saskatchewan’s home of Blue Jays Baseball, AM1190, starting at 5:00 p.m.
