In a do-or-die game between the Weyburn Iron Pigs and the Regina Trappers Thursday night, the winner would secure a spot in the Qu'Appelle Valley Baseball League finals. The game in Regina marked the decisive game of the best-of-three series, which was tied 1-1. The Iron Pigs would come out swinging, showcasing their offensive prowess, taking the game, and the series, with a 14-2 final score.

Troy Miller was a standout for Weyburn, going 3-for-5 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs. Talen King also had a notable game, with 2 hits and 2 runs. Mike Onstad contributed 2 hits, 2 runs, and an RBI, while Will Morris added 2 runs and an RBI. Evan Schultz, Brad Weisgerber, Kelton Hoium, and Walker Happ each had their fair share of runs and RBIs as well.

Adam Ziegler's double and Walker Happ's triple were key hits that boosted Weyburn's scoring. The team's effective plate discipline resulted in 10 walks, contributing to their offensive success. Onstad's stolen base prowess added to their dynamic performance on the field.

On the pitching side, Eric Evans led the Iron Pigs to victory, allowing only 2 runs on 6 hits in 5 innings of play. His solid performance was complemented by 6 strikeouts and just 2 walks. His efficient pitch count management and good strike rate were crucial in containing the Regina Trappers' offence.

With the win, the Iron Pigs will now be playing for their second title since 2016. It will also be their fourth consecutive appearance in the QVBL finals. They will wait to see who their opponent will be, as the Regina Dodgers and the Regina Rockies play the other semi-final series. Game two in that match-up goes Friday, with the Rockies up 1-0.
