The Notre Dame Hounds brought the Weyburn Red Wings' winning streak to an end Friday night with a 4-1 victory.

Weyburn has been red hot as of lately, but just didn't seem to find their stride in Wilcox. Notre Dame got on the board first, as Cory Anderson banged home a rebound for his 13th of the year. The Red Wings struggled through the opening frame, registering just 4 shots on goal. However, Rylan Parenteau played exceptionally well, making 14 saves in the first period alone.

The home team carried the momentum into the middle period, adding to their modest lead. Sam Aulie exploded down the left wing creating a 2 on 1 rush, feeding Dillon Schwartzenberger in the slot for an easy tap in to make it 2-0. The shots were 23-13 after 40 minutes in favour of the Hounds.

The 3rd period started much like the other two; Notre Dame energetic and aggressive. Defenseman Brandon Kuse took advantage of the lacklustre Red Wings, walking out front into the slot and putting one through the five hole of Parenteau. Finally the Red Wings would show some signs of life after a fight. Brendan Mckay laid a hard hit in the offensive zone triggering 6'6" Nathan Walsh. The two combatants got their frustrations out before heading to the penalty box to cool off, with the decision likely going to Walsh. But Walsh was also assessed an extra two minutes for instigating, giving the Red Wings a chance to find a spark. Nick Pouliot dished off to Donavon Lumb, who ripped one up high for his 7th of the year. The Red Wings came alive after Lumb's goal, but it was short lived. Even with the net empty for Weyburn, the boys just didn't seem to have it on Friday night, and the Hounds added an empty netter to end the contest 4-1.

The win moves Notre Dame up into 8th place overall with 45 points, while the Wings slide back to 9th, also with 45 points. A very crucial two points is at stake Saturday night, as the Hounds travel to Weyburn for the rematch.

Game time is at 7:30pm at Crescent Point Place.
