A strong showing for the Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings at the Central Plains Capitals Showcase in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba on the weekend. The Gold Wings went 3-0-1 in the exhibition event.

Starting play Friday night, the Gold Wings took their first game by a final of 5-3 against the Yellowhead Chiefs of the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League. This was followed up with another win, this time by a 2-1 final, against the Interlake Lightning, also from the MFMHL.

The only tie of the showcase saw the Gold Wings skating to a 1-1 draw with the Pilot Mound Hockey Academy Buffaloes. The showcase was closed out with a win over the host Central Plains Capitals, as the Gold Wings shutout the home team 3-0.

The Gold Wings are back in action Tuesday night as they take on Notre Dame in an exhibition game at Crescent Point Place. The next regular season game for the Gold Wings is Saturday when they host the Saskatoon Stars.
