Access to justice for youth during child welfare proceeding has recently become more accessible.

An initiative through the Children's Advocate Office and the Canadian Bar Association's Saskatchewan Branch will provide pro-bono services for youth under the age of 18.

Marvin Bernstein, children's advocate for Saskatchewan says children have been asking why their parents have the right to lawyers, but they don't.

Bernstein believes current Saskatchewan legislation fails to stipulate any independent child representation.
