Two people are dead following a collision on Highway 6 last night, 7.5 kilometres south of Regina. RCMP members from the White Butte and Milestone detachments responded to the call, which came in around 8 p.m.

There were four vehicles involved in the collision. So far, the investigation has RCMP believing the initial collision occurred between a northbound truck and a southbound van, which appear to have collided head-on. The truck went into the ditch, while the van stayed on the highway. It was then struck by two other vehicles, one northbound and one southbound.

A 78-year-old woman, who was driving the southbound van, and an 83-year-old man, who was driving the truck, were declared deceased at the scene. A female passenger in the southbound van suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The two vehicles involved in the secondary collisions had a lone man in one vehicle, and two men in the other. Neither of them were seriously injured.

The highway was closed for several hours while forensic reconstructionists investigated the scene, and RCMP members collected evidence.

The investigation is still ongoing.
