The end of the indoor soccer season is approaching and to cap off another fun year the Weyburn Soccer Association will once again host their annual "Frostival" tournament. 2nd Division clubs from all over the province will converge on the Credit Union Spark Centre from March 8th-10th for their final kicks before a short break ahead of the Spring session. WSA President Jason Roy is excited to welcome approximately 40 different U9 to U17 teams to this weekend's just-for-fun event.

"It's just a nice way that these kids will be able to wrap up their season before they prepare for the spring," said Jason Roy, president of the WSA. "We won't be keeping stats, but it's exciting to host just a fun tournament."

Aside from partaking in friendly matches, players will also get the chance to test their moves with a series of skills competitions in order to win prizes. Tournament eligibility is offered to teams ranging from U9 to U17 that are members of the Saskatchewan Soccer Association, and a large turnout is expected again in Weyburn. The massive weekend event is not only great for the sport of soccer, but also for stimulating the economy of the hosting community.

"Last year was a huge hit. We had roughly 600 people who came through the door, which does wonders for our community's hotels, restaurants, and other businesses. It's a win-win," said Roy.

Clubs will travel from centers such as Saskatoon, Yorkton, Regina and Moose Jaw, as well as other surrounding communities, to take part in the youth event. Roughly 40 teams will bring about 14 players each to the Opportunity City. Athletes will get the opportunity to display the skills they learned over the past season, catch up with friendly adversaries, and enjoy the premium facilities that Weyburn has to offer.

"I have to admit, that is one of my personal highlights," confessed Roy. "When somebody's visiting here and they walk into the Spark Centre for the first time, it's a proud moment to show off what Weyburn has to offer. It's put us on the map."

Spectators are welcome to watch the festivities over the March 8-10th weekend and are invited to make use of the other amenities found at the Spark Centre such as the MNP Play Structure, Indoor Walking Track, the Weyburn Art Gallery, and on-site concession called the "Lunchbox".
