A shooting on the James Smith First Nation, roughly 180 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon, has left two people dead, one injured and the RCMP is searching for the suspect.

The suspect of 33-year-old Shawn Moostoos, and he is believed to be armed and dangerous. The RCMP describe Moostoos as standing just over six feet tall, weighing 189 pounds, and having brown eyes and brown hair. He may be driving a white 2003 Pontiac Montana with Saskatchewan license plate 938 MBT. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.

Just before 7:30 p.m. last night, three people were shot in an incident in a home on the James Smith First Nation. A man and a woman were killed in the incident, with a second man injured. He was taken to hospital by ambulance. RCMP stated the victims and the suspect were known to each other.

A search has been underway for the suspect in the area around James Smith First nation, and this included search assistance from STARS Air Ambulance, the Saskatoon Police Service Air 1 unit, as well as surrounding RCMP detachments.

An emergency alert had been issued in the area after the shooting, but based on information gathered during the investigation, police have determined the alert is no longer required.
