Weyburn’s Brett Jones is on the move.

The offensive lineman was traded from the New York Giants Sunday to the Minnesota Vikings. In return, the Giants received a 2019 draft choice.

Jones appeared in all 16 games last season for the Giants and started 13. He had played in 30 games with the Giants over the past two seasons.

The Vikings were in need of a centre, with their starter on the physically unable to perform list. His replacement suffered a neck injury on August 9th which has him out for the season.

Jones is heading into his fourth season in the NFL. His first season he was on the injured reserve, after being injured in training camp.

He made the move to the NFL after two years in the CFL with the Calgary Stampeders, where he was named the league’s Most Outstanding Rookie in 2013, and Most Outstanding Lineman in 2014.
