The Crocus 80 Theatre is switching things up this year.

Instead of its annual dinner theatre, the performance group will be hosting a dessert theatre at the Tommy Douglas Performing Arts Centre over the weekend.

Friday through Sunday, Crocus 80 Theatre is presenting the classic tale of Pinocchio.

"We wanted something that was going to kind of get the whole family involved," Brittany Nightingale, secretary on the board of directors, said about the switch to dessert theatre.

"With dinner theatre, a lot of times, it's harder with people with young children to come, to get them to sit through a whole meal and then watch a show."

Something else is unique about this performance; It is the first time both adult and youth actors will share the stage.

"It's a really good learning experience for our youth who have been involved in this show," Nightingale said.

The Crocus 80 Theatre will be using proceeds from this dessert theatre for its summer theatre program, which is a free program for youth in the community.

Friday and Saturday showtime is at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

While Sunday's matinee begins at 2 p.m., with doors opening 1:30 p.m.

Tickets are available at the door or at Weyburn Pharmasave.
