The Southeast College is hosting a golf tournament to raise money for student scholarships.

Swing for Scholarships has been running for 18 years to raise money for students attending Southeast College.

"We really just want to support our students that are coming to the college and getting a post secondary education so that they can enter the work force in our local communities. There are a lot of costs associated with going to school here at the college and the scholarship program really helps those students out," said Dave Harazny, Southeast's manager of college advancement.

"The dollars raised at this event create entrance scholarship which we give out to full time students entering their programs."

Harazny noted they've had over 100 golfers in the past and hope to exceed that number this year.

"If you like to golf or want to try golf it's a fun event for golfers of any skill level. It's a great cause, it does help out our students that are studying here locally. There's lots of camaraderie and lots of fun and everyone has a good time, and it's a way to get in around the golf and have some fun and support a great cause at the same time," said Harazny.

This year the tournament is on Sept. 9, with a tee time of 1 p.m. at the Weyburn Golf Course. Registration is $125 per golfer, which includes supper.

People can also purchase only a supper ticket for $25. To register or purchase tickets call Dave Harazny at (306) 848-2500.
