The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings announced today that Kyle Haines will return for a second season with the club. It was uncertain if he would fit into new head coach and General Manager Rich Pilon's staff, but the Wings made the announcement via social media on Monday morning.

The former Red Wing captain had a rollercoaster first season as a coach. Just months after retiring from pro hockey, Haines was promoted from assistant coach to head coach following the dismissal of Wes Rudy. Many fans appreciated his honesty and his approach to the game during the up-and-down season.

The former defenceman brings plenty of experience and a calming presence to the organization.

Haines will join Pilon and fellow assistant coach Cody Mapes behind the bench for the 2019/2020 season.

The Red Wings 2019 Annual General Meeting is also set for Tuesday, June 25. The meeting will see the team's financial reports, as well as the President's report and other housekeeping items. The AGM will also see the voting for board members for the team.

Only members can vote at the meeting. Memberships can be purchased at any time but also carry an annual fee of $20 to remain eligible to vote. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Ramada.
