The SFU18AAAHL announcing the recipient of the Carol Scheibel Scholastic Player of the Year Award this week, and this year, the award was presented to Kate Goranson, a four-year player with the Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings. The award is presented to a player in Grade 12 who has the highest GPA in the league.  

This year, Goranson is set to graduate from Weyburn Comprehensive School before heading off to attend the University of Saskatchewan in the fall. 

Over the course of her four years with the team, Goranson played in 85 games, including five in this past COVID-19 shortened season. Over those games, she put up five points and accumulated 46 penalty minutes.
