Operators of Weyburn's Therapeutic Animal Park said the community has come to the rescue after a tough summer of vandalism and theft at the park.

The park's Tammy Stendall told Discover Weyburn a cash box was stolen, animals were teased, and some minor vandalism occurred well.

Stendall isn't quite sure why the park is being targeted this year.

"I think it's because we've really drawn attention to ourselves now, that park - there's people in there almost 24 hours a day, it's always, always busy," she said.

Despite the hardships, Stendall said the community of Weyburn has come to the park's aid, including a donation of security cameras. Some of the staff of Tatagwa View (which adjacent to the park) have also offered to keep an eye on things after hours.

"The community has really stepped up, they are behind us 110 per cent of the way," said Stendall.
