This weekend, Dorothy and Alice will come alive on the stage of Weyburn's Tommy Douglas Theatre.

As part of the Weyburn Wheat Festival, the Crocus 80 Youth Theatre will be performing 'Dorothy in Wonderland.'

Amora, who will be playing Alice, said the two characters (Dorothy from the Wizard of OZ and Alice from Alice in Wonderland) are trying to get out of this "wonderland," while running into "weird and crazy creatures" along the way.

The program this year features 24 students, who learn aspects of theatre performance. These include building sets and props, learning the lighting, how to work curtains, backstage skills, all in addition to acting on stage.

"It's been really hard learning our lines," said Amora. "But, it's been coming together really well. Everyone has been doing a really good job."

The play runs Friday through Sunday. The shows on Friday and Saturday start at 7 p.m., with the Sunday matinee at 1 p.m.

Tickets are available for purchase at the door.
