The 2nd annual Communithon Concert Jam took place at the Cugnet Centre in Weyburn on Saturday. The Concert Jam acts as a kick off to the Communithon, which takes place on October 19. Photo gallery at the bottom of this page.

The event began at 1PM and ran till close to 10pm with seven different Saskatchewan acts taking the stage and Discover Weyburn's Denis Conroy was there hosting as well.

Steph Cameron, a Saskatoon-raised folk singer and songwriter got the night started on the right foot with her upbeat and original tunes.

Rugged Little Thing, a Saskatoon-based husband-and-wife folk duo who performed at the first Concert Jam last year were the next act to grace the stage at the Cugnet Centre. They got the crowd laughing with their personal stories and even taught the crowd how to play a banjo.

Men Without Shame, a party band that plays classic rock tunes took to the stage next. Their stage presence was unique and entertaining, most notably their bright and wild costumes were a huge hit with the crowd.

Then Rock Candy, a female-fronted rock group that covers songs from classic to current rock blew the roof off the Cugnet Centre with their out of this world high energy show! Rock Candy knew exactly how to get the crowd on their feet and dancing to their heart pumping songs!

WoolTree Grove, based in Forget, is the husband-wife duo of Aaron and Jacquie Walbaum, who play blues and folk tunes. Their children all take part in their shows as well. With Jacquie and her oldest daughter being the main entertainment at this year's Concert Jam. They shared stories about their family and played mostly original songs that they wrote.

The next act up was Little Miss Higgins, who is a Saskatchewan-based country blues guitarist and singer. She told many jokes and got the audience to participate as much as she possibly could.

The closing group was Dead Levee, a blues and rock band based in Regina, featuring the vocals of Weyburn’s own Dane Von Hagen, formerly of Private Drive. The group closed the night with a bang! Their high energy tunes had everyone in the venue on their feet.

Sabrina Kraft was the head organizer of the Concert Jam and she was quite pleased with this year's event. "We had a larger audience than we had last year and the entertainers were amazing," told Kraft. "The Concert Jam acted as our kick of to Communithon season, so the Communithon will be taking place on October 19th. One new thing we'll be doing this year is a minute to win it challenge and we'll have some other exciting announcements that I can't quite reveal yet, but as we get closer to then we'll make those announcements and this year's Communithon will be a blast!"
