Fire has caused extensive damage to a house on the 100 block of Seventh Street North.

The Weyburn Fire Department was called to a residential fire just before noon today. Upon arrival, one shed, two garages and two vehicles were fully involved. With strong south winds, the fire quickly spread to the house at 132 Seventh Street. One of the garages involved in the fire was on the property next door.

Fire Chief Simon Almond said the fire remains under investigation.

"There were extremely high winds at the time and we believe a tree may have contacted an electrical wire, but there's no definitive causes yet," shared Simon.

Simon said there were no injuries to occupants or firefighters. Although damaged, the house was essentially saved.

Firefighters remained on scene for hours to ensure the fires were fully extinguished.
