The Weyburn Golf Club won't be raising their membership fees this season, that was the big discussion at their annual general meeting last week. They will be raising the fees next year, however, according to Golf Club President John Corrigan.

"Financially moving forward, I think the initial thought process here is that the membership is favourable to an increase," explained Corrigan. "Now, not significant, we certainly wouldn't be looking at a 50 percent increase or anything like that but potentially in that 20 percent range."

Currently, the 2018 membership fees are $1,025 per adult, $2,000 per couple and $2,050 per family. There are also fees for youth and students. Corrigan said the board looked at the cost of other membership fees in the area and says their fees are significantly lower, around $200 to $300 lower, except Mainprize Golf Course, which boasts the lowest fees.

Corrigan said they are planning to do some fundraising this year to help with golf course improvements.

As for board members, Rick Walliser and Roger Hill stepped down, while Marc Henderson and Marshall Bakken joined the board of directors at the meeting.

The opening of the Weyburn Golf Course for the season will be dependant on the weather, according to Corrigan. Meanwhile, they already have several golf tournaments planned for June.
