The location of where one of the two retail cannabis stores in Weyburn will be discussed when Weyburn City Council meets tonight. The application is one of a number of items on council’s agenda for the meeting.

Torrance Aitkin, owner of Wheatland Cannabis, was one of two retailers to receive one of the store permits from the SLGA earlier this year. His application before City Council, for a location just outside of downtown Weyburn, is the first for the city.

The development permit for the cannabis store isn’t the only item on the agenda, however.

In recent months, the off-site development levies have been a point of discussion amongst the councillors. The bylaw for the levies is before council this evening. It includes establishing the levy at $45,121.28 per acre of development land with a $4.51 per square foot levy for smaller developments and re-developments.The bylaw is set to receive its first reading.

A number of home occupation permits will also be discussed at the council meeting.

We will have full coverage of the meeting, on-air and online, Tuesday morning.
